Family history project

Garrett interviewing his great-grandfather.

When Garrett was in 6th grade, he did a family research project. He did some Internet research on the time periods when his parents, grandparents and great-grandparents were his age. He found out about how much things cost, and current events.

Next he interviewed all of his living great-grandparents, his grandparents, and parents. He came up with questions about their childhoods and took notes and recordings.

Finally he put all of his findings in a scrapbook with a picture of him with each person. Each person has two pages.

This was such a fun and meaningful project. It took way more time than we expected, but it was worth it. He now has a greater appreciation of the history behind his family and a great book to look back on for generations. We plan to do this with all of our kids at about 6th grade.
